Kitty Party Music Games: 15 Antakshari and Bollywood Ideas

The best kitty party music games are Antakshari, Guess the Song from the Tune, Dumb Charades with Bollywood songs, and Lyrics Fill in the Blanks. They need no props, work for any age, and get even the shyest members singing along within minutes.

Below you'll find 15 easy music games with simple rules, plus tips on prizes, teams and playlists so your next kitty feels like a Bollywood night.

Why Are Music Games Perfect for Kitty Parties?

Every Indian woman has a song she knows by heart. Music games work because nobody needs to be "good" at them. A mother, a college girl and a grandmother can all join the same round, because each one remembers songs from a different time.

They also fill the gaps in a party. While food is being served or the next lucky draw is being arranged, a quick song round keeps the energy up. If you want more quick ideas, see our list of one minute kitty party games.

15 Kitty Party Music Games

1. 🎤 Classic Antakshari

Split the group into two teams. One team sings a song, and the other team must sing a song that begins with the last letter of the song just sung. Give 30 seconds per turn. If a team cannot answer, the other team gets a point.

Tip: Allow members to sing only a few lines. Full songs slow the game down.

2. 🎶 Guess the Song from the Tune

The host hums, whistles or plays just the first three seconds of a song. The first member to call out the song name wins a point. You can use a phone speaker for this.

3. 🎬 Bollywood Song Dumb Charades

One member acts out a song name without speaking, and her team guesses it. Songs with clear actions such as "Chaiyya Chaiyya" or "Kajra Re" are the most fun to act out.

4. ✍️ Lyrics Fill in the Blanks

Print or write ten song lines with one word missing. Members write the missing word on a slip of paper. The one with the most correct answers wins. It is quiet, easy and great for senior ladies.

5. 🔠 One Word, Many Songs

Pick a word like "dil", "pyaar" or "chand". Going around the circle, each member must sing one line from a song that contains that word. Whoever repeats a song or cannot think of one is out.

6. 🎧 Name That Singer

Play a short clip without showing the screen. Members guess the singer, not the song. This is harder than it sounds and often starts friendly arguments.

7. 🎭 Song by Mood

The host calls a mood such as "happy", "heartbroken" or "monsoon". Each team has one minute to sing as many songs of that mood as they can. The team with the longest list wins.

8. 🪑 Musical Chairs, Kitty Style

The classic game with a twist. When the music stops, the member who is out must sing two lines of any song. It keeps everyone laughing, even those who are out early.

9. 💃 Freeze Dance

Play a lively song and let everyone dance. When the music stops, everyone must freeze. Anyone who moves is out. The last dancer standing wins.

10. 🎵 Pass the Parcel with Songs

Wrap a small gift in layers of paper. Pass it around while music plays. When the music stops, the member holding the parcel unwraps one layer and must sing a line before passing it on. The last layer holds the prize.

11. 🎞️ Emoji Song Quiz

Write or show emojis that represent a song name. For example, a sun and a flower can hint at a song about sunshine and flowers. Members guess the song. Make 8 to 10 clues in advance.

12. 🎙️ Karaoke Queen

Everyone takes a turn singing one verse with a karaoke track on a phone or TV. The group claps to vote for the winner. Keep it fun and never force anyone to sing.

13. 🔤 Song Starting With Your Name

Each member must sing a song whose first word starts with the first letter of her name. A member named Radha sings a song starting with R. It works well when members do not know each other yet.

14. 🧩 Jumbled Song Titles

Write song titles with the letters jumbled. Members unscramble them within two minutes. This is a good seated game for any group size.

15. 🏆 Decade Challenge

Choose a decade, such as the 1970s, 1990s or 2010s. Teams take turns singing songs from that decade. Each correct song earns a point. It brings out stories about school, college and first films.

Which Music Games Work for Which Group?

Not every game suits every group. Here is a simple guide.

For small groups of 6 to 10

Choose Name That Singer, One Word Many Songs and Karaoke Queen. Everyone gets many turns. See our ideas for small group kitty party games as well.

For large groups of 20 or more

Choose Classic Antakshari in teams, Freeze Dance and Lyrics Fill in the Blanks, which can run on paper at the same time for everyone.

For senior ladies

Choose Lyrics Fill in the Blanks, Decade Challenge with older songs, and Guess the Song from the Tune. These are all comfortable sitting games.

For young ladies and college groups

Choose Emoji Song Quiz, Freeze Dance and Karaoke Queen with the latest songs.

How Do You Run Antakshari Smoothly?

Antakshari can go wrong when there is no clear host. Follow these simple rules:

Choose one host who keeps time and score.
Give each team 30 seconds to start a song.
Do not allow the same song twice.
Allow only one or two lines from each song.
Keep a list of tricky letters like X or Z and let teams skip them.
Stop the game after 20 minutes, so it never gets boring.

If one team is clearly stronger, move two or three members across to balance the teams.

How to Make a Good Kitty Party Playlist

A good playlist lifts the whole party, even outside the games.

Save songs from three eras: old classics, 1990s hits and recent songs.
Keep two or three dance songs ready for Freeze Dance.
Download songs in advance so the game does not stop if the internet is slow.
Keep the volume friendly. Members should be able to talk between songs.
Ask the group for their favourite songs on your WhatsApp group a week before.

What Prizes Work for Music Games?

Keep prizes small and fun. A few ideas:

A small chocolate box for the best singer
A pretty pen or notebook for the quiz winner
A tiny plant or scented candle for the Antakshari winning team
A funny "Karaoke Queen" crown or sash

Most of these cost under ₹200 each. For more ideas, see our kitty party games list.

Tips for Shy Members

Some members love the mic, and some prefer to stay quiet. Be kind to both.

Let shy members join a team round first, so they sing with others.
Offer quiet roles like scorekeeper or card checker.
Never call out someone's singing in front of everyone.
Cheer every attempt equally.

When everyone feels safe, even the quietest member often ends up singing the loudest by the end of the evening.

A Sample 30 Minute Music Round

Here is a simple plan you can copy for your next kitty:

5 minutes: Guess the Song from the Tune as a warm up.
15 minutes: Team Antakshari with the host keeping score.
5 minutes: Bollywood Dumb Charades.
5 minutes: Freeze Dance to finish with energy.

After this, you can move to Tambola or the lucky draw while everyone is still smiling.
