Pencil Bottle Drop: Kitty Party Game Rules and Twists
Pencil Bottle Drop is a one minute party game where each lady has a pencil hanging on a 2 foot string from her waist and must lower it into an empty bottle on the floor without using her hands. The fastest lady to get the pencil inside wins. Our Children's Day twist: she must sing a nursery rhyme like Machli jal ki rani the whole time, and if she stops singing, the host knocks the bottle over. It needs only pencils, thread and plastic bottles, and works for 8 to 20 ladies in heats of 5.

What do you need to play Pencil Bottle Drop?
- One pencil per player (blunt or with an eraser end)
- About 2 feet of thread or string per player
- One empty plastic bottle with a wide mouth per player in a heat
- A phone timer
- A host to watch hands and singing
How to play Pencil Bottle Drop, step by step
- Tie one end of the thread around each player's waist like a belt and tie a pencil to the other end so it hangs about 2 feet down in front.
- Line up 5 players and place an empty plastic bottle on the floor in front of each one.
- Players put their hands behind their backs. Start a 1 minute timer and each player tries to lower the pencil into her bottle by bending and moving her waist.
- The twist: every player must sing a nursery rhyme (Machli jal ki rani, Twinkle twinkle little star, Chanda mama door ke) the entire time.
- If a player stops singing, the host knocks her bottle over and she must stand it up and start again. When the pencil goes inside, the host notes her time.
Rules: how do you win?
- Touching the pencil, string or bottle with your hands means starting over.
- Stopping the song means the host knocks your bottle over.
- If the minute runs out, you get no time in that heat.
- The fastest player from each heat goes to a final, and the fastest in the final wins.
Fun twists to make it crazier
- Let the host pick each player's rhyme from a bowl of chits.
- Use a smaller glass or a narrow bottle in the final round.
- Give the winner a fun "Class Monitor" badge for Children's Day.
Tips for the host
- Use plastic bottles, never glass, because they will get knocked over.
- A wide mouth bottle like a juice or cold drink bottle works best for beginners.
- Keep a list of nursery rhymes ready so nobody gets stuck.
- Tie the waist knot loosely so it is easy to untie for the next heat.
